The Neighborhood Christian Center provides after school tutoring to over 150 children in the inner city as well as summer enrichment programs to nearly 200 students every summer. Every Christmas season, NCC distributes over 500 food boxes to needy families in the Metro.

Bring it with you the day of the race. (5K runners need to register from 7:00am-7:50am) (Canoe/Kayak Registration will start at 9:00am)

NCC’s Pickin’ and Paddlin’ Outdoor Festival, 2006
Anyone who volunteers for 2 hours will receive free admission, BBQ plate lunch and a Pickin' and Paddlin' T-shirt. We need people to help all day, but we only require 2 hours for free admission
We will need the most help setting up in the morning (around 7:00am), around lunch time (11:00-1:00pm) and cleaning up (around 4:00-6:00pm).
Volunteer Jobs will include:
Set-up (7:00am-10:00am)
Entrance Fee Collectors
Registration/Check-in (Registration will take place from 7:00am-9:00 for 5K and 1K Race)
Registration/Check in (Registration will take place from 10:00am-3:00pm for Canoe Races)
Food Servers (BBQ plate lunches served from 11-1:00)
Supervise Children (Children's activities will be provided, but we are looking for several people to keep an eye on the children while they are playing.
Clean-up (4:00pm-6:00pm)
Other Volunteers will serve in various areas as needed: Music set-up, preparing Canoes for races, T-shirt and NCC info distribution and helping with various Facility needs.

Volunteers may sign up for a time slot or a specific activity.

NCC's Pickin' and Paddlin' Outdoor Festival

NCC's Pickin' and Paddlin' Outdoor Festival is scheduled for Saturday, April 1st, 2006

There will a 5K race and 1 Mile Fun Run in the morning, followed by canoe races, a Barbeque lunch, activities for children, and some of Jackson's best bluegrass and old time String Bands.

The Broken String Band, Hired Man's Horse, The Delta Mountain Boys, Jackson Jug Revival and the Vernon Brothers will be providing foot stompin' classics throughout the day!

Join us for this event as we continue to "Utilize the body of Christ for the work of Christ in the city"
